Why You Need To Focus on Nervous System Regulation

I deeply wish more people, primarily women, understood that when your nervous system is dysregulated, so many other things within us follow suit, and when we begin to regulate our nervous system, our cortisol lowers, our hormones begin to balance, our skin will clear, and our chronic digestive issues will heal.

The nervous system is a key piece of healing that so many people are missing, it is responsible for transmitting signals between different parts of the body &  is essential for the optimal functioning of various bodily functions and processes like; movement, digestion, breathing & cognition.

When regulated the nervous system promotes a state of calmness which allows the body to efficiently respond to stressors and maintain equilibrium. A dysregulated nervous system can cause both mental & physical conditions and issues like; anxiety, depression, and chronic health issues. Think of your nervous system as a cup, all the things you’ve been through, any trauma big or small, daily stressors, the way you feel about your life, yourself, your body, anxiety, perfectionism, not resting, forcing yourself to be okay — it all gets poured into your cup and when the cup starts to overflow then the brain does what it can to keep us feeling safe and sends pain and symptoms to different areas of the body, if you’ve ever experienced anxiety causing digestive issues, it’s like that but on a larger scale.
